Evelyn Weaver

Mrs. Evelyn Shepherd Weaver, 86, of Dalton, passed away Monday, May 24, 2010.
She was born September 9, 1923, daughter of the late John and Nettie Irene Holt Shepherd and was preceded in death by her husband, Mack O. Weaver, whom she married on March 3, 1944; sisters, Frances Clements and Martha Morrison; brothers, Julian Shepherd and Talmadge Shepherd.
Evelyn was a graduate of Westside High School, where she was a four year member of the basketball team, as well as the Salutatorian for the class of 1942.
After graduation, she served with the U.S. Army Signal Corps as a civilian and later attended Communication School as she continued her employment with the Signal Corps. Upon completion of her communications course, she held positions in Winston Salem, N.C. Philadelphia, PA. Baltimore, MD. and Washington, DC. Finally, she moved to Athens, GA., where her husband attended the School of Pharmacy at the University of Georgia and later graduated. They resided in Louisville, Ga. until June 1955 at which time they made their final destination to Dalton. Her husband became a business partner with Bradley & Weaver Drug Co., where Evelyn was employed until retiring in 1983.
Evelyn is survived by her daughter, Gail Weaver Abbott of Frisco, TX.; son, Max Weaver of Royal Palm Beach Fl.; brothers, James Thomas Shepherd and Larry Shepherd both of Rocky Face and Harold Shepherd of Dalton; grandchildren, Paige Greene, Corri Ehmer, Kyle Weaver and Brandon Weaver; 4 great-grandchildren; many nieces and nephews also survive.
Funeral services will be Sunday at 2 P.M. in the chapel of Love Funeral Home with Ronnie Missildine officiating.
Burial will be in Whitfield Memorial Gardens.
The family will receive friends at Love Funeral Home Sunday from 1 to 2 P.M.
In lieu of flowers the family asks that memorials be made to the Central Church of Christ Building Fund, P.O. Box 1201, Dalton, Ga. 30722-1201.
