Mr. Edward “Eddie” Carter, 84, of Dalton, passed away Tuesday July 6, 2010 at Memorial Hospital in Chattanooga, TN.
He was the son of the late, John J. and Eva Hood Carter.
Eddie was a veteran of the United States Navy, having proudly served during WW II and during the Korean Conflict and retired from the U.S. Postal Service after 31 years.
He was an active member of Antioch Baptist Church and a member and director for many years of the Royal Ambassadors, he also was a member of and held office with the American Legion Post # 112 .
Eddie is survived by his loving wife of 60 years, Judy Massingill Carter of Dalton; daughter and son-in-law, Donna and Mike Wilburn of Chatsworth; sisters and brother-in-law, Betty Hayes, Willa Nix and Polly and Hoyt Lewallen all of Dalton; nieces and nephews.
Funeral services will be held Thursday at 2 P.M. in the Chapel of Love Funeral Home with the Rev. Donald Cantrell officiating.
Burial will be in Whitfield Memorial Gardens with American Legion Post #112 in charge of graveside rites.
The family will receive friends at Love Funeral Home Wednesday from 5 to 8 P.M.
