Mr. Frank Wright Manly, 82, of Dalton, died late Wednesday evening, October 18, 2006 at Hamilton Medical Center.
He was the son of the late, Howard P. and Nell Wright Manly and was preceded in death by his son, Frank Wright Manly, Jr.
Frank was a graduate of Georgia Tech; A Veteran of the U.S. Army, serving in
W.W. II with the 407th Combat Engineers and the European Theater. He was a member of the pioneer family, who started Manly Jail Works, becoming a partner to the present Manly Steel. He was an avid golfer and square dancer and was a longtime member of the Dalton First United Methodist Church.
Frank is survived by his wife of 56 years, Jean Jolly Manly of Dalton.
Daughter, Sally Manley of Dalton; Daughter-in-law, Vicki Manly McCarthy and her son, Michael R. McCarthy both of Dalton; Caring and kind friend, Sally Addis of Dalton; Devoted friend of the family for over 50 years, Frances Betton of Dalton; Cousins, Mary and Milton Ryman, Judson and Nann Manly, Jim and Ina Fay Manly, Bob and Gwen Manly, George and Martha Wright, Tom and Joann Wright, Tom and Debbie Hogshead, Frank and Carolyn Hogshead, Gertrude McFarland,
Stuart and Bitsy McFarland all of Dalton.
Services will be Saturday at 11 A.M. at the Dalton First United Methodist Church with the Dr. Joe Peabody and the Rev. James Hughes officiating.
Burial will be in West Hill Cemetery.
The family will receive friends in the Atrium of the church immediately following the service.
The family request flowers be omitted and memorials be made to the First United Methodist Church, P.O. Box 627, Dalton, Ga. 30722-0627.
