Mrs. Lucile Martin Chitwood, 90, of Dalton, died early Saturday Morning, October
21, 2005 at Hamilton Medical Center.
She was the daughter of the late, Chester and Maude Martin of Cohutta, Ga. and was preceded in death by her husband, Paul B. Chitwood in 2003; Infant son, Paul L. Chitwood; brother, Cecil Martin and sister, Mary Martin Kerr.
Lucile attended college at GSCW and graduated from the University of Chattanooga and received her masters from the University of Georgia. She was a teacher and reading specialist in the Dalton Public Schools.
Lucile is survived by her children; Glenda and Steve Young of Dalton, Norma and Bob Fountain of Winston-Salem, N.C., Faye and Lofton Odom, Martin Chitwood, Mike and Ruth Chitwood, Lynn and Pam Chitwood all of Atlanta, Ga.
Grandchildren; Rob and Jen Fountain of Greensboro, N.C., Shelley and Jason Foil of Lumberton, N.C., Abbie Odom, Neeley Odom, Andrew Chitwood and Claire Chitwood all of Atlanta. Great-Grandchildren; Avery Fountain, Jack Fountain, Michael Foil and Matthew Foil.
Services will be Monday at Noon in the Chapel of the First Baptist Church with the Rev. Phillip Cannon and the Rev, Larry Flanagan officiating. Honorary pallbearer's will be her Sunday school class (the Darrell C. Roberts class).
Burial will be in the Hopewell Baptist Church Cemetery in Cohutta, Ga.
The family will receive friends at the Love Funeral Home Monday from 10 A.M.
to 11:30 A.M.
In lieu of flower’s, the family request memorials be made to the ALS Association Georgia Chapter, 1955 Cliff Valley Way, Suite 116, Atlanta, Ga. 30329.
The family would like to express their grateful appreciation for the compassionate, loving care and support given by her Doctors, nurses and caregivers.
The family will receive visitors at the Chitwood home, 1606 Beverly Drive, Dalton on Sunday from 3 to 6 P.M.
