Mr. Claude William Cartledge, 89, passed away Tuesday, October 19, 2010 at his residence in Chatsworth, GA.
Claude was an inspiration to all who knew him. He was a youth sunday school teacher for many years. Children lovingly called him Paw Paw.
He was preceded in death by his wife, Johnnie Akins Cartledge; father and mother, Benjamin and Victoria Cartledge; sisters, Clara, Pauline and Irene Cartledge, Blanch and Grady Bruce, Josie and Erman Johnson, Inez and Charlie Mealor; Brothers and their spouses, Eddie and Flo Cartledge, Tommy and Pat Cartledge, and Frank and Sylvia Cartledge; father-in-law and mother-in-law, Mose T. and Mildred Elrod Akins; three sisters-in-laws, Edith Akins, Mary Jo Akins, Betty Akins Bennett and her husband Benny; two brothers-in-laws, L.W. “Dub” Akins and James Burt “J.B.” Akins; one son-in-law, Phillip Peppers.
Claude is survived by his daughters, Vickie Peppers of Social Circle, GA., Sheila and Teresa Cartledge of Chatsworth; sons, Claude T. and Dianne Carrell Cartledge of Chatsworth, Bobby and Cindy Ledford Cartledge of Dalton; granddaughters, Shanene and Shay Hawkins of Newnan, GA., Megan and Ranon Lane of Dalton, Pam and Clark Greer of Stockbridge, GA.; grandsons, Micha and Allison Cartledge of Crandall, GA., Jody Cartledge of Chatsworth, and Cameron and MeChelle Cartledge of Chatsworth, Phillip and Angie Peppers of Canton, GA.; great-grandchildren, Aiden and Zander Hawkins of Newnan, GA., Rylan Lane of Dalton, Sidney Cartledge of Chatsworth, Trey and Zach Peppers of Canton, GA., Victoria and Christopher Greer of Stockbridge, GA.; sisters-in-laws, Billie Jean Akins of Chatsworth, Bessie Akins Miles of Ringgold, GA., and Thelma Akins Alderman of Dalton.; special friends, Deborah Prater and Gene Bond; several nieces and nephews also survive.
Pallbearers will be Bobby Cartledge, Micha Cartledge, Jody Cartledge, Cameron Cartledge, James Boling, and James Purcell.
Services will be held Thursday at 2 P.M. at The Church of God of The Union Assembly in Dalton with Pastor Trey Starnes, Rev.Wayne Hall, Rev. Darrell Akins, and Dr. James Cox officiating.
The family will receive friends at Love Funeral Home Wednesday after 4 P.M.
