Mrs. Arretha Holloway Temples, 95, passed away November 9, 2010 at the Morningside Assisted Living Residence in Dalton, Georgia. The Register, Georgia native was the daughter of the late Allie Riggs and Lawson Jadon Holloway. She was preceded in death by her husband, Coy Hudson Temples, and her brother, William (Bill) Lawson Holloway.
Arretha was a graduate of Georgia Teachers College. She was a second grade teacher. She loved to cook, to grow roses and play bridge with the Register Bridge Club. She was the oldest living member of the Lake Primitive Baptist Church in Candler County where she played the piano for worship for many years. She moved to Dalton in 2005 to be near her family.
She is survived by her son and his wife, Coy Hudson and Noel Benson Temples of Dalton, Georgia, three grandsons and their spouses, William Hudson and Mariana de Luca of Charlotte, North Carolina, Robert Benson Temples of Dalton, Georgia, and John Ambrose and Amanda Lanier Temples of Roswell, Georgia. She is also survived by two great-grandsons, William McKensie Temples and Casey Andrew Temples of Scranton, Pennsylvania.
Services to celebrate her life will be held Friday, November 12th at 2:00 p.m. at the Lake Primitive Baptist Church, Highway 46, in Candler County, Georgia. The service will be officiated by the Reverend Randy Waters. Burial will be in the church cemetery. The family will receive friends at 1:00 p.m . at the Lake Church until the funeral hour.
