Mr. Donald “Don” McKay Poplin, 80, of Dalton, passed away Sunday, November 14, 2010 at his residence.
He is the son of the late, Helen Johnson Poplin and Fred Alexander Poplin and was preceded in death by his daughter, LaDonna Kaye Poplin and brother, Alan Poplin.
Don was a veteran of the United States Air Force and was a member of the First Baptist Church of Dalton.
He is survived by his loving wife of 47 years, Genevieve Holsomback Poplin of Dalton; son and daughter-in-law, Randy and Tammy Poplin of Dalton; granddaughters, Emily and Molly Poplin of Dalton; brothers and sisters-in-law, Ervin J. and Bennie Poplin of Statesville, NC., Harry and Nancy Poplin of Simpsonville, SC.; sister-in-law, Sue Holsomback of Dalton; many special cousins, nieces and nephews also survive.
Services will be Wednesday at Noon at the First Baptist Church of Dalton with the Rev. Phillip Cannon, the Dr. Bill Ireland and the Rev. Larry Flanagan officiating.
Burial will follow in Sugar Valley Baptist Church Cemetery.
The family will receive friends in the atrium of the First Baptist Church on Wednesday from 10 to Noon.
