Mr. June Edward Henderson, 81, of Rocky Face, Ga., died Thursday, November 30, 2006 at Hamilton Medical Center.
He was the son of the late Grady and May Mosteller Henderson and was preceded in death by his brother, Avery Henderson of Marietta.
June served in WW II aboard the USS Bunch in both the North Atlantic and Pacific Fleet and in 1985, he retired from the U.S. Naval Reserve after 37 years.
He owned and operated Eastside Furniture Company in Dalton for 32 years.
His passion was flying and along with his neighbor and good friend, Carter Boyd, who owned and operated the “Westside airport”, where countless hours were spent with his flying buddies.
He is survived by his loving wife of 61 years, Dartha Baker Henderson of Rocky Face; daughter and son-in-law, Marcelle and Bruce English of Jacksonville, Fl.; son and daughter-in-law, Mike and Betty Henderson of Dalton; Granddaughter and grandson-in-law, Valerie and Edward Silva of Tunnel Hill, Ga.
Services will be Saturday at 2 P. M. in the chapel of Love Funeral Home with the Rev. Scott Parsons and the Masonic Lodge # 105 F & AM in charge.
Burial will be in Whitfield Memorial Gardens.
The family will receive friends at the Love Funeral Home Friday from 4 to
7 P. M.
