Mrs. Ethel Massingill Haley, 94, died Thursday, November 30, 2006 at her home in the Carbondale Community following a lengthy illness. She was a member of Hill City Baptist Church, where she cared for the children in the nursery for many years.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Will D. Haley; her parents, A.M. and Ruthie Massingill; two brothers, J.D. and Clarence Massingill; two sons-in-law, Alfred Brown and Alton Mills; one daughter-in-law, Mary Haley; and a grandson, Allen Elkins Haley.
Ethel leaves behind a large family who will miss her dearly. She is survived by two sons, C.M. (Bud) and Sue Haley of Dalton, Jack and Sue Haley of Mary Esther, Fl; five daughters, Evelyn and Jimmy Parson, Shirley and Troy Edgeman, Charlotte and Jerry Goble all of Dalton, Vivian Mills of Resaca and Katherine and Dale Dempsey of Calhoun; 18 grandchildren, 29 great-grandchildren and 3 great-
great-grandchildren. She is also survived by one brother-in-law and two sisters-in-law, Ralph and Ann Haley and Laura Haley; two special care-givers, Nena White and Jo Marcelino and special friends, Louise Long and Effie Bridges.
Services will be Saturday,December 2, 2006 at 11:00 A.M. at the Hill City Baptist Church with Mitch Edgeman and Dr. Carl Billue officiating.
Interment will follow in the Hill City Baptist Church Cemetery. Pallbearers will be grandsons, Jim Parsons, Jr., Lane Haley, Ken Dempsey, Duane Haley, Terry Mills, Mitchell Edgeman, Rodney Goble and Brian Goble. Honorary Pallbearers will be the great-grandsons.
The family will receive friends at Love Funeral Home Friday after 4 P.M.
In lieu of flowers, Contributions may be made to the Hill City Baptist Church Building Fund, c/o Frances Smith, 925 Midway Road, N.W., Resaca, Ga. 30735.
