Dr. Thomas Milton Langley, 100, of Dalton, died Saturday, January 6, 2007 at Hamilton Medical Center.
He was born December 28, 1906 in Walker County, son of the late, Florence Catherine Burns and George Andrew Langley; graduated from LaFayette High School in 1927 where he was Senior Class President and Captain of the football team and was the first boy at LaFayette High School to earn four letters. He attended Georgia Institute of Technology in Textile Engineering from 1927 to 1930;
attended Palmer College of Chiropractic in Davenport, Iowa in 1934 and graduated in 1937 and on July 5, 1937 he established Chiropractic practice in Dalton and was still practicing; He worked in Civilian Conservation Corps Camp
(CCC) in Ellijay, Ga. and served with the U.S. Army from 1943 to 1945 and was a member of the Dalton First Baptist Church.
He was preceded in death by his siblings, Benson Langley, James Benton Langley, Archie Langley, Lucius Langley, Clara Langley Pledger, Raymond Langley, Emmett Langley and his loving wife, Jessie Lee Littlejohn Langley in 1998.
T.M. is survived by his daughters and sons-in-law, Sue and Hoyt Bartenfeld of Dalton, Kay and Bill Moyd of Chatsworth, Ga., Beth and Fred Burdick of Dalton; grandchildren, Brad Bartenfeld of Dalton, Lori Bartenfeld of Anderson, S.C., Brent and Heather Bartenfeld of Alpharetta, Ga., Paige and Richard Goode of Melbourne, Fl., Mandi and Bob Bishop of Bedford, NH; great-grandchildren, McKenzie Goode, Madison Goode and Grace Bartenfeld; nieces and nephews.
Services will be Tuesday at 11 A.M. at the First Baptist Church with the Rev. Bill Wilson, the Rev. Larry Flanagan and the Rev. Phillip Cannon officiating. Honorary pallbearers will be the Scrap Iron Sunday School Class and special friends.
Burial will be in LaFayette Cemetery in LaFayette, Ga.
The family will receive friends at Love Funeral Home Monday from 5 to 7 P.M.
