Mrs. Mary Bell Scott was born on July 1, 1915. She was predeceased in 1997 by her husband of fifty-six years, Henry L. Scott, who was a concert-pianist-humorist. Dr.Scott, after retiring, served for more the twenty years as Senior Investment Advisor of Interstate Johnson Lane in Charleston, South Carolina, retiring a second time at eighty-eight.
She is survived by her daughter, Barbara Scott Kissling of Vermont, and her son Renny Scott and his wife, Margaret of Dalton, Georgia.
Her Grandchildren are Matt and Amy Smith, John and Jenny Zeigler, David and Jill Scott, Molly, Francie, and Harry Scott. Her Great-Grandchildren are Julia, Peter, and Jason Smith and Jack and Juliette Zeigler.
Mrs. Scott died peacefully in her sleep on January 11th, Monday morning at 5:00 AM, at ninety-one years old. Her son, Renny, said “She was ready to go home! She knew Christ. However, she loved her family, prayed for each one faithfully, and took special delight in our dog “Buzz”, when he visited her. She was also deeply grateful for the loving care she received at Regency Park and prayed for each one who touched her life.”
Mrs. Scott was a life-long Episcopalian. A memorial service will be held Saturday at 4 P.M. at St. Marks Episcopal Church at 901 W. Emery Street, Dalton with the Rev. Dean Taylor officiating and playing the Cello. Renny Scott will share some brief remarks.
The family will receive friends at St. Mark’s parish hall from 3:00 to 4:00 prior to the Memorial Service.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Christian Heritage School, 1600 Martin Luther King Jr. Boulevard, Dalton, GA 30721
