Mrs. Gussie Whitener Hayes, 84, of Dalton, passed away Wednesday evening,
January 17, 2007.
She was a life long resident of Dalton; was retired from the Whitfield County Sheriff’s office and was a member of the Dalton First United Methodist Church.
Gussie was the daughter of the late, James Roy and Mary Smith Whitener and was preceded in death by her brother, Roy E. Whitener and her husband, M. Riley Hayes. She is survived by her son and daughter-in-law, Milton and Judy Hayes of Kennesaw, Ga.; sister-in-law, Frances Whitener of Dalton; grandchildren, Gina Baumann, Deborah Hartman, R. Scott Leavell, Robert Hayes and Stephen Hayes; nieces, Margaret Dillard Phipps of Dalton and Susan Whitener Gardner of Washington D.C.; nephews, Sparky Whitener and Jim Whitener both of Dalton; seven great-grandchildren also survive.
Services will be Saturday at 2 P.M. in the chapel of Love Funeral Home with the Dr. Joe Peabody and the Rev, James Hughes officiating.
Burial will be in West Hill Cemetery.
The family will receive friends at Love Funeral Home Saturday from Noon to
2 P.M.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the First United Methodist Church,
P.O. Box 627, Dalton, Ga. 30722-0627.
