Mrs. Agnes Y. Parker, of Dalton and formerly of Mount Pleasant, South Carolina, passed away Wednesday, Aug. 1, 2018.

Agnes, known to her friends as Aggie and to her grandchildren as Nanny, was an avid bowler who belonged to many leagues throughout the Charleston, South Carolina, area. She spent many hours on the lanes, routinely posting high scores and rolling in the 200s into her mid-80s. Mrs. Parker took delight in beating her grandchildren when they were young, then had the tables turned on her when they grew older and were able to beat her from time to time. When Mrs. Parker was no longer able to physically bowl, she became a standout video game Wii bowler.

Games — from bingo to cribbage to Rummikub to horseshoes to Yahtzee — were a big part of her life as she would stay up late into the night playing with friends and family. She never liked to lose but reveled in the time spent with others. Mrs. Parker had a knack for crafts which adorn the homes of many people she knew. Cooking and baking treats was another hallmark of Mrs. Parker as she was known for her famous Horns, a cinnamon and pecan pastry she made during the holidays.

The family will receive friends tonight from 5 to 7 at Love Funeral Home. Memorial contributions may be made to a charity of one's choice.
