Alice "Nora" Ivanora Newton

August 24, 1928 — January 26, 2021

Alice Ivanora (Nora) Hackney Newton, 92, of Dalton passed away on January 26, 2021 at Ridgewood Manor. She was preceded in death by her parents, Joseph Arthur Hackney and Annie Barnard Hackney; sisters, Willena Hudgens, Fannie Sue Hackney and Willie Frances Hackney.

She is survived by her children and spouses, Linda Pilcher (Trammell), Joe Donald Newton (Mary Ann), and Paul Ronald Newton (Beckie); grandchildren: Scott Pilcher, Beth Washington, Melissa Brown, Brian Newton (Jamie), Brent Newton (LaShea), and Traci Gast (Nick); great-grandchildren, Timothy and Cheyanne Pilcher, Alonzo and Adrianna Washington, Tyler and Ally Brown, Karsen and Sadie Newton, and Caroline and Caleb Gast; great-great granddaughter, Sammi Brown. Also surviving: sister, Eunice Robinson and nieces and nephews.

Nora was also known as “Mimi.” She loved the Lord and her family. She will be greatly missed by her family, friends, and all who knew her. She was a great seamstress, cook, and loved her beautiful flowers. She also loved volunteering at the local hospital and at The Salvation Army.

Due to COVID-19, a private family service will be held. In lieu of flowers, contributions can be made to The Salvation Army, 1109 N. Thornton Avenue, Dalton, GA 30720.
