Anthony Kent Powell

Anthony Kent Powell, 66, of Ringgold, GA, passed away on Saturday, July 1, 2023, at The Canopy at Boynton Ridge in Ringgold. He is preceded in death by his parents, James William and Colleen Boyd Powell. Kent is survived by his wife, Kathy Powell; daughters, Brooke Dodson (Drew Tapley) and Melanie Bagley (Scott); stepson, Noah Thornton; seven (7) grandchildren; and siblings, Clay Powell (Angie) and Jan Gordon (Rick). Nieces and nephews also survive.

Kent served our community as a Deputy with the Whitfield County Sheriff’s Department. He then transferred to work as a Probation Officer for Whitfield County. He later moved to work for security at Memorial Hospital in Chattanooga until his retirement. Kent also worked as a Barber at A Cut Above.

Funeral services for Anthony Kent Powell will be Monday, July 3, 2023, at 1:00 p.m. in the Chapel of Love Funeral Home. The family will receive friends from 12:00 noon until 1:00 p.m. Burial will follow at West Hill Cemetery.

The family extends their appreciation to the staff at The Canopy at Boynton Ridge for the care they gave to Kent over the past year, and to Heartlite Hospice of Dalton for their compassion and care. In lieu of flowers contributions may be made to The Hospice Promise Foundation in memory of Anthony Kent Powell, who received his care from Heartlite Hospice of Dalton.
