Barbara Jean Aldridge

Barbara Jean Aldridge, 88 of Cohutta, GA passed away peacefully in her home on January 23, 2020. She was surrounded by her closest family and friends as she entered the gates of heaven. Barbara was a beloved wife, mother, grandmother, sister and aunt to many. Her family described her as a warrior; strong, selfless, loyal and kind. She loved her family fiercely. She was a master at making homemade biscuits and tea cakes and could compete with the best in a game of checkers.

Barbara was an employee at Aladdin Mills for many years before retiring to stay home with her nieces, nephews and grandchildren.

Barbara was preceded in death by her parents Fred and Margie Phillips, her baby brother Bill Phillips her son-in-law Benjamin Reed and her grandson Alexander Smith.

She is survived by her husband of 60 years, Gene Aldridge of Cohutta, son Chris Smith (Rhonda), daughter Connie Reed, granddaughter Ashley Reed (Chris Ewton), grandsons Blake Smith (Candace), Tyler Smith (Taylor Conner), twin sister Bonnie Sloan (Henry), sister-in-law Evelyn Phillips and many nieces and nephews who will all miss her dearly!

Visitation will be held at Love Funeral Home in Dalton on Sunday, January 26 from 5-8. Services will follow on Monday, January 27 at 11. The family will accept flowers or memorials may be made to Cohutta First Baptist Church’s Building fund.
