Barbara Ann Walraven

December 20, 1941 — October 31, 2024

Barbara Ann Walraven, age 82, went home to be with the Lord on October 31, 2024, after a lengthy illness. She died peacefully with family by her side, whom she dearly loved. She was preceded in death by her parents, Monroe and Julia Pitts; her husband, Clifton Walraven; her son, Dewey Walraven; and her brothers-in-law, Vernon Youell and Jackie Silvers.

She is survived by her daughter and son-in-law, Theresa and Tim Campbell; her grandchildren, who called her "Memaw," Breann King (Stephen), Karson Campbell (Mikaela), and Austin Campbell; and her great-grands, James Campbell, Peter King, Alayne Campbell, Ruthann King, Jeremiah Campbell, and Nora King.

Barbara is also survived by her two younger sisters, Faye Youell and Margaret Silvers, and her nieces and nephews, who affectionately referred to her as "Aunt Bob," Connie Richards (Jack), Lisa Autry (Mark), Jim Youell (Bridgett), Darryl Silvers and Chris Youell (Trish) and several great- nieces and -nephews.

Barbara was a dedicated and long-time member of Erwin Hill Church of God. She looked forward to her Sundays of worship and missed it terribly when she could no longer attend due to her health. She was also terribly missed by her fellow church members.

She was raised on a farm in Murray County and was taught from a young age that hard work is beneficial and valuable. She practiced a strong work ethic that consistently showed her children and family an example of determination and dependability. She would garner many accolades and rewards for her 30-plus years as store manager at Payless Shoe Store in Calhoun, GA, where people called her "the shoe lady."

Barbara had a great sense of humor. She was tough as nails and full of sass! She also had a tender side that she would occasionally let you catch a glimpse of. She will be deeply missed by the friends she made while living at Morningside/Oaks Senior Living during the last 8 years of her life. The people there became like family to her, and she spent those last years of her life as a social butterfly. Whenever you came to visit her there, you were sure to hear lots of laughter and find her right in the middle of it, especially if her Georgia "Dawgs" were playing. She wouldn't let anybody get away with cheering for any other team without getting a little ribbing.

Barbara requested that her goodbye be short and sweet. She was ready to go and could not wait to walk those streets of gold.

We already miss her but know that she is finally at peace.

So, we are always confident, even though we know that as long as we live in these bodies we are not at home with the Lord. For we live by believing and not by seeing. Yes, we are fully confident, and we would rather be away from these earthly bodies, for then we will be at home with the Lord. 2 Corinthians 5:6-8
