Betty Bennett Hathcock Hammond, 90, formerly of Dunwoody, GA, passed away Tuesday, September 18, 2018 at the Gardens at Royal Oaks in Dalton.
Betty was born and raised in Atlanta, GA. She moved to Dalton in 1955 where she raised four boys. She returned to Atlanta in 1976 and especially enjoyed entertaining whether it was family, friends or business associates of her husband. Betty and Ross were active at Peachtree Presbyterian Church where they enjoyed many wonderful celebrations with their Sunday School class.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Joseph E. Bennett and Annie Mae Herring Bennett; husband, Ross W. Hammond; son, Steve L. Hathcock; two brothers Joe and Ronnie Bennett and sister Martha Patterson.
Betty is survived by sons and daughters-in-law: Bill and Norma Hathcock, Larry and Debra Hathcock and Randy and Jenny Hathcock. Grandchildren, Parker Hathcock, Gregory Hathcock, Stephanie Vaughn, Marcus Hathcock, Stephanie Henson, Randall Hathcock and Justin Hathcock as well as beloved, nieces and nephews, great grandchildren and great-great grandchildren.
Special thanks to Craig and Gretchen Heimbigner of Broomfield, CO for their care, love and devotion to Betty for so many years. Thank you to her caregivers the past few months Sharon, Cynthia, Selina, Becky, Kissey, Raven and others including the staff at The Gardens.
The family will receive friends on Saturday, September 22, 2018 at 11:00am with a memorial service to follow at Noon at ChristChurch Presbyterian, 510 S. Tibbs Road, Dalton, GA 30720.
The family requests that memorial donations be made to the Alzheimer’s Association, 922 E. Morris St. Dalton, Ga. 30721 or to the charity of your choice.
