Betty King Posten

Betty King Posten, 87, passed away peacefully November 23, 2024, surrounded by her family.

Born Mable Elizabeth King (Betty) in Dalton, GA, she was the daughter of the late Edward and Dorothy King and Freddie Halstead. She was preceded in death by brothers Trammell King and Roger Halstead and late husband Jack Posten.

Betty briefly lived in Miami as a child and returned to Dalton where she graduated from Dalton High School, Class of 1955 and Dalton College.  Growing up, Betty worked for her dad at Ed’s swimming pool and later at King’s Eggs. She also worked at Carpets of Dalton and Coppedge Law Firm.  Betty was a proud and faithful member of Dalton First United Methodist Church her entire life and Heaven has welcomed a classy, chic and beautiful angel.  As a top notch homemaker, Betty loved to bake, cook, sew, do yard work, walk, bowl and play bridge, as well as cheer on the Atlanta Braves and the Georgia Bulldogs.  Known as Betty, Mother and Grandma Betty, she was kind, compassionate and caring and loved her family and friends unconditionally. Her loving heart and beautiful smile will live with us forever.

She is survived by her children, Benny Martin Posten (Atlanta, GA), Claude Allen Posten (Los Angeles, CA), Marsha Elizabeth Posten McKone (Kevin) (Dalton, GA), granddaughter, Mable Adele McKone (New York City, NY), dog Freddie, sister-in-law, Rebecca King (Opelika, AL) and several cousins, nieces, nephews, and loving friends.

A Celebration of Life will be held on Sunday, December 1, 2024 at 3:00 p.m. at Dalton First United Methodist Church with a visitation there starting at 1:00 p.m.
