Billy Dee Croy, 83, of Dalton passed away on Saturday, September 28, 2019.
Billy now joins his parents, William and Velma Lois Lovelace Croy along with his brothers, W.R. and Clarence Croy and beloved puppies, Denver C. and Maggie May.
He proudly served in the U.S. Army from 1954 until 1957 and then in the Army Reserve until May 1962. Billy was a truck driver and retired from Roadway Express in 1994. During this time he competed in the Georgia State Truck Driving Championships several times. He won his division twice and advanced to The National Championships in Dallas, TX and Denver, CO. Billy was a member of Valley Baptist Church. He is a born again Christian, a Son of God and is now rejoicing with his Heavenly Father.
He is survived by his wife, Ira Jeanette Ledford Croy; daughters and son-in-law, Teresa and Bill Darnell and Karen Croy; son and daughter-in-law, Phillip and Janice Croy; grandchildren, Brent and Laura Darnell, Brandon Darnell, Zana Mixson, and Amber and Miguel Garcia; great grandchildren, Bryanna Darnell and Aaron and Ezequiel Garcia; sisters, Betty and Ted Everette and Martha and Ford Ruddell; special kitty cats, Roo Boy and Domino.
The family would like to thank Georgia Elite Home Care Services and Dr. and Mrs. Glenn and Tracey Boyd and staff for their dedicated care.
Funeral services will be held at 11 AM on Tuesday in the chapel of Love Funeral Home with Rev. William Roberts and Rev. Charlie Hamm officiating. Pallbearers will be Brent Darnell, Brandon Darnell, Miguel Garcia, Jerry Ledford, Lamar McClure and Charles Nicholson.
The family will receive friends on Monday from 4 until 8 PM and then again on Tuesday from 10 until 11.
Burial will be in West Hill Cemetery with Military Honors.
