Heaven is sweeter today because Bobbie Stanley Brookshire gained her Angel wings on June 30, 2019 surrounded by her loving daughter and son in law Karen and Clay Nations.
Bobbie was born December 30, 1936 to the late Grover and Jessie Lee Stanley and grew up in the Pine Grove Community. She was also preceded in death by her sister Ola Mae Brooks, brother Grover Stanley Jr. and nephew Egan Stanley.
She was an employee of Shaw Industries plant 81 for 25 plus years. Prior to working for Shaw she was an employee with Solomon White and Mill End Jobbers. She loved her co-workers and the friendships she made throughout the years. She was a devout Christian who loved her Lord and Savior. She had a love for playing her piano and played at 2 area Baptist Churches for years. She loved her family and her family reunions, the Duncan/Fincher reunion every August. They brought great joy to her heart. Other loves include Southern Gospel Music, Atlanta Braves Baseball Games, Dalton High School Catamount Football games, Gatlinburg and the beauty of the mountains, she loved her pets over the years and the joy they brought to her. She loved going to RossWoods Adult Day Care and the friendships she made there. She was a member of Salem Baptist Church and Potter's Clay Sunday School Class.
She fought a long hard battle with dementia for 6 years. She is finally whole again and free from this horrible disease.
Survivors include her loving and devoted daughter and son-in-law, Karen and Clay Nations of Dalton; brother and sister-in-law, Mike and Ruby Stanley of Calhoun; sister and brother-in-law, Gail and CL Green of Chatsworth; sister-in-law, Gail Stanley of Dalton; niece, Cindy Brooks Mincey of Calhoun; nephews, Eric Stanley of Chattanooga, TN, Tim Green and Allen Green of Chatsworth; great nieces and great nephew, Brittany Mincey of Calhoun and Brandi Mincey Homs and Joshua Homs of Katy, TX; great-great nieces and nephews; former husband, Clarence "Archie" Brookshire.
The family will receive friends Friday from 5-9 PM. Services will be Saturday in the Chapel of Love Funeral Home at 3 PM with the Reverends Darey Kittle and Jim Brinkley officiating. Burial will be in West Hill Cemetery.
