Bobby Lee Mathis

Bobby Lee Mathis, 87, of Dalton, passed away on Friday, August 26, 2022, at his home. He is preceded in death by his parents, Hertis and Ann Mathis, and his granddaughter, Jerrica Mathis.

Bobby was the Owner of the legendary Bobby’s Drive-In on Cleveland Highway for many years (where he would meet his wife, Janette Headden). In ensuing years, he owned and provided service through an amusement company (Southern Amusement), participated in the carpet industry as Owner of Bobby’s Carpets, and was in the rental business for commercial buildings in our community. Though he was a successful businessman, Bobby was known most for his love for his family—his wife, children, grandchildren, and great-grandchild. Bobby and his wife, Janette, enjoyed many years of vacations and outings with family members. He also had a passion for his animals and a great love for the outdoors.

Bobby is survived by his wife of sixty-two years (62), Janette; children, Robin Hurney (fiancé, Melvin Silvers), Jerry Mathis (Pat), Terry Mathis (Sandra), and Tammy Grant; nine (9) grandchildren (seven graduating from the University of GA and one from Georgia Tech; one (1) great-grandchild; his dog, Oreo; and many nieces and nephews.

The family will receive friends on Monday, August 29, 2022, at Love Funeral Home from 10:00-11:30 a.m.  A private family service will be held and burial will be at Whitfield Memorial Gardens. Flowers will be accepted, or contributions may be made to the Northwest Georgia Humane Society (1210 Veterans Drive, Dalton, GA 30721).
