Brenda Joyce Caylor Pratt

Ms. Brenda Joyce Caylor Pratt, age 74, of Cohutta, GA peacefully departed this life at her home on June 8, 2022 after a tenacious battle with cancer. Brenda was surrounded by her son and friends at the time of her death. She was born in Whitfield County and lived her entire life in Dalton and Cohutta.

Brenda was employed for many years by Kroger and later by Shaw Industries. Most recently she worked for the Dalton School System, where she enjoyed cooking with “the girls” in the Dalton High Cafeteria. She enjoyed cooking any meal but especially loved baking, everyone wanted her baked goods. Her favorite meal was breakfast which she often enjoyed any time of the day and often included gravy and biscuits. She was an avid gameshow fan and seldom missed Jeopardy and Wheel of Fortune. She also enjoyed cooking shows and a good western. In recent years she could often be found in the summer months swimming at Pete’s pool with Donna, both who were long-time friends. Brenda cherished time spent with family and friends and was always willing to lend a helping hand if it was needed.

She was preceded in death by her father, Dewitt Caylor; mother, Shirley Headrick Caylor Henson; son, Hiram Zachary Pratt; nephew, Robert Arthur Perdue III; sister, Diane Smith; brother, Robert Terry Caylor; father-in-law and mother-in-law, Everett E. and Ruby L. Pratt; several brothers-in-law and sisters-in-law.

To cherish her memory she leaves her son, Forrest Tyrone “Tye” Pratt; husband, Larry E. Pratt; nephew, Kevin and Corey Caylor; “granddogs”, Tucker and Layla; long time friends, Junior and Jeleta Gazaway, Donna, Pete, Jimmy and Cindy Daffron, Pat Hicks, Cheryl Monroy, Tonya Brown, Angie and Bobby Rhodes, Raymond and Geneva English, Eric Willingham, and “the girls” from the Dalton High Cafeteria as well as many others. Also cherishing her memory are her many “adopted” grandchildren.

Funeral services will be held at 2 PM on Saturday in the chapel of Love Funeral Home with Rev. Paul B. Pratt and Rev. Raymond English officiating. The family will receive friends on Friday from 5 until 8 PM at Love Funeral home and then again on Saturday from 11 AM until the time of service. At Brenda’s request the casket will remain closed. Burial will be in Whitfield Memorial Gardens.
