Calvin Edward (C.E.) Whisenant, 92, of Dalton, made his transition peacefully to his Heavenly Home on Wednesday, April 6, 2022, surrounded by his loving family.
Calvin was a humble U.S. Army Veteran, serving in the Korean War, and receiving many medals, including The Purple Heart. After his military service, he became a master as a masonry contractor, choosing laying brick and block for over 40 years. After retirement, his happy place was on his farms raising cattle, and enjoying whatever challenges farm life involved. Calvin was a member of the Cohutta Masonic Lodge #64-Past Master.
He was preceded in death by his wife of 54 years, Betty Stinson Whisenant; parents, Sam Edward, Sr., and Cecil Sutton Whisenant; brothers, Winfred (Minnie) Whisenant, JC Whisenant, Donald “DL” Whisenant, and Melford Whisenant; sister, Lucille “Lucy” (Clay) Ramsey; son-in-law, Charles Edward Rollins; sister-in-law, Josefa Witt; special uncle, Conley Sutton.
He leaves to cherish his memories, daughter, Connie Whisenant Rollins; son, Gene (Betty) Stinson; brothers, Virgil (Shirley) Whisenant and Sam Jr. (Glenda) Whisenant; sister, Joy (David) Cockburn; brother-in-law, Bob Witt; grandchildren, Regina Stinson (Britt) Adams, Nita Toney, Tim (Aimee) Stinson, Kiley Edward Rollins, Dewayne Rollins, and Tim Rollins; great grandchildren, Lily and Abby Adams, Chase Sornson, Tiffany (Mark) Richards, Michael (Ashlie) Toney, and Nick Rollins; four great-great grandchildren; many nieces and nephews.
Funeral services will be Saturday at 2:00 PM in the chapel of Love Funeral Home with Tommy Kimbrell officiating. The family will receive friends prior to the service from 11 until 2. Burial will be in Whitfield Memorial Gardens.
