Carol Diane Hilber Zimbrick, 80, passed away on Thursday, January 23, 2025. She was a strong person.
Carol was born April 24, 1944, in Fargo, North Dakota. She graduated from the University of North Dakota, where she met and married Cortland Zimbrick and began a teaching career that continued for 38 years in four states. She taught Spanish at Dalton High School and Notre Dame High School in Chattanooga. Carol loved her job and her students, which was evident by the effort and enthusiasm she put into her work. She took students to Spain and Mexico many summers to practice their Spanish speaking skills. She was a vivacious reader and movie goer.
Carol is survived by her husband of 60 years, Dr. Cortland Zimbrick of Dalton. She is also survived by her siblings, Tim of Sioux Falls, SD, Pat of Fargo, ND, and Cathy of Coon Rapids, MN. Carol was preceded in death by her parents, Richard and Edna Hilber and four of her siblings, Tom, James, Robert, and Jean.
The family wishes to thank Walnut Creek Senior Living and Heartlite Hospice for their loving care of and for Carol.
The family will receive friends from 9 am to 11:30 am on Monday at Love Funeral Home. The funeral mass will be at 12 noon on Monday at St. Joseph’s Catholic Church.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the Alzheimer’s Association or The Dalton Education Foundation.
