Charles B. Hubbs

Charles (Charlie) Berry Hubbs, a devoted husband, father, and grandfather, passed away on September 25th, 2023, in Dalton, Georgia.  A native Daltonian, Charlie was born on April 3rd, 1950.  He would live in the same city on the same street he would call home throughout his entire life.

Charlie graduated from the University of Georgia.  His serial entrepreneurial spirit led him to become a successful business owner.  He was always looking for the next big “break through.”

Charlie's faith was the cornerstone of his life, and he was a member of Church on the Hill.  His love for the Lord radiated through his involvement in various ministries, particularly his passionate work over twenty years of prison ministry at the Hamilton County Jail, Silverdale, the Elbert Shaw Regional Youth Detention Center, and the Whitfield County Jail.  It was Charlie’s passion to share the hope he had found in the Gospel with others.

Charlie enjoyed golf, always looking for his next golf “break through.”  He also loved sailing and watching Georgia football.

For 51 years, Charlie shared a deep and abiding love with his wife, Deborah (Richardson) Hubbs.  Their strong marriage was a model for their children and grandchildren.  They recall that it was always a house of peace.

In addition to his wife Deborah, Charlie is survived by his daughter, Kelli (Hubbs) Irwin, and his son, Zachary Hubbs.  Kelli and her husband Kyle brought two beloved granddaughters into his life, Kate and Charlotte Irwin.  Zachary, along with his wife Heather, also blessed Charlie with two cherished grandsons, Graham and Grayson Hubbs.  He is also survived by his siblings, Eleanor, James, and Frances.  Charlie's legacy of love and devotion will continue to thrive through the generations he leaves behind.

A memorial service will be held at Church on the Hill on Saturday, September 30th at 11:00am.  There will be a time of fellowship after the service.  In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations be made to Church on the Hill's Jesus Fund.

Charlie now has the great joy of seeing his Savior face to face.  Christ’s completed work on the cross and His resurrection secure both Charlie’s hope and our hope, that we are not our own but belong, body and soul, both in life and death, to our God and Savior Jesus Christ.   Charlie’s legacy of love, faith, and Gospel-hope will live on in the hearts of those whose lives he touched.
