Mrs. Christine ‘Polly’ Schneider, age 92, of Rocky Face, Georgia, departed this life on Friday, November 1, 2024, at Morning Pointe of Calhoun.
Polly was born on Thursday, March 31, 1932, in Dalton, Georgia, to the late Mr. Regan and Mrs. Marie Cochran Callahan.
Polly was a loving wife, mother, grandmother, great grandmother, and great-great grandmother. After graduating from Dalton High School, Polly went on to work in the medical field. She spent thirty-six years with Hamilton Medical Center, where she worked in various positions, including as a secretary in the Emergency Department. She was also a long-time dedicated and devoted member of Fairview Methodist Church in Dalton. Additionally, Polly was an active member of the Policeman’s Wives Auxiliary in Dalton. She loved the beauty of roses, and she loved collecting angels; her collection consisted of over eight hundred angels in total.
In addition to her parents, Polly is preceded in death by her husband of sixty-three years, Mr. George Walter Schneider, who retired as Assistant Chief from the Dalton Police Department after twenty-two years of faithful service. She is also preceded in death by her brother and sister-in-law, Kenneth ‘Dude’ Callahan and Audrey Callahan.
Polly is survived by her loving daughters, Brenda (Gary) Carlock and Vicki (Jim) Warren; her grandchildren, Chris (Stacie) Carlock, Spencer (April) Carlock, Brittany (Mike) Belote, and Andrew (Gita) Brown; her step-grandchildren, Jay (Aimee) Warren and Lane (Dixie) Warren; her great grandchildren, McCall (Will) Blanchard, Coty (Sydney) Carlock, Alexus (Chris) Carlock, Lily Belote, Liam Belote, Harper Brown, and Henley Brown; her step great-grandchildren, Brandon, Brodie, Marley, and Lyla Warren; and her great-great grandchild, Rowan Carlock. Polly is also survived by her special nieces, Tammy Callahan and Teresa Penland, and her special nephew Terry Callahan, as well as her special friends, Gayle Parks, Marcella Baker and Matthew Baker (son of Marcella).
A funeral service to honor and celebrate Polly’s life will be conducted on Thursday, November 7, 2024, at 2:00 P.M. in the chapel of Love Funeral Home with Brad Bailey officiating. Polly will be laid to rest next to her husband at Whitfield Memorial Gardens. Her family will receive friends for visitation on Thursday from 11:00 A.M. until the service hour. Gentlemen serving as pallbearers are Chris Carlock, Spencer Carlock, Mike Belote, Andrew Brown, Terry Callahan, and Matthew Baker.
In addition to flowers, Polly’s family also asks that donations be made in her memory to Fairview Methodist Church (1735 Riverbend Road, Dalton GA 30721).
