Cindy was born and raised in Cartersville, graduating from Cartersville High School in 1953.  After living in both Savannah and Birmingham (by way of her husband’s service in the United States Air Force and his work in the textile industry), she relocated to Dalton in 1966, where she lived throughout the remainder of her life.  She was a strong person of faith, and was an active member of First Baptist Church of Dalton for many years.  Additionally, she especially enjoyed listening to the teachings of Dr. Charles Stanley and Dr. David Jeremiah.  She was a self-taught businesswoman and worked alongside her husband in their business, James Allred Rugs, in Chattanooga, Tennessee, until her and her husband’s retirement in 2002.  She was also an avid bridge player and made many lifelong friends throughout various bridge-playing forums and platforms.

In addition to her parents, Cindy was preceded in death by her loving husband of 65 years, Mr. James W. ‘Jim’ Allred, whom she married at the old Tabernacle Baptist Church in Cartersville on Sunday, July 3rd, 1955.

Cindy is survived by her children, Tim (Anita) Allred of Cohutta, Tish Autumn Allred of Dalton, and Joe (Donna) Allred of Vestavia Hills, Alabama.  She is also survived by her grandchildren, Jay Parker of Dalton and Ali (Kaitlin) Parker of Rydal; Dunkin (Martha) Allred and Austin (Cheyenne) Allred, all of Marion Junction, Alabama; Alexa Lee of Birmingham, Alabama; and Denise (Jerrid) Thompson of Cohutta and Matthew Allred of Dalton.  She is also survived by her great-grandchildren, Ellis Anne Allred and Mary Dunkin Allred (daughters of Dunkin and Martha), and Tristan Thompson and Catherine Thompson (son and daughter of Denise and Jerrid).

Cindy is also survived by her brother-in-law, Ted Allred of Fayetteville; sisters-in-law, Marie Powell of Cartersville, Cynthia Allred (Jim Price) of Fairburn, Angela Allred of Resaca; nieces and nephews, Terri (Rick) Partain and Susan Johnson (Dawn), all of Ringgold, Scott Powell of Cartersville, and Jim (Carrie) Powell and Beth (David) Civitelli, all of Mobile, Alabama.

Cindy is also survived by her beloved neighbors whom she loved as family: Ms. Yeraldine ‘Yiri’ Serrano and her daughter, Itzel, as well as Mr. Jose and Mrs. Azucena Molina and their daughters, Liceth Peraza (mother of Jose Jr. and Manuel), Ana Molina (mother of Adan Pation), and Angelica Molina.

Others who preceded Cindy in death include her beloved sister and brother-in-law, Mrs. Betty Jean Powell ‘Sissy’ and Mr. Buddy Johnson of Ringgold; her brother and sister-in-law, Mr. Jimmy and Mrs. Kay Powell of Mobile, Alabama; her brother, Mr. Bill Powell of Cartersville; brother-in-law, Mr. Victor Allred of Dalton.

A funeral service to honor and celebrate the life of Mrs. Cindy Allred will be held on Thursday, August 29, 2024, at 1:00 o’clock in the afternoon in the chapel of Love Funeral Home with the Reverend Phillip Cannon officiating.  Cindy will be laid to rest with her husband in a private burial ceremony at the Chattanooga National Cemetery in Chattanooga, Tennessee.  Her family will receive friends for visitation at the funeral home on Thursday beginning at twelve o’clock noon until the service hour.

Gentlemen serving as pallbearers are Mr. Jay Parker, Mr. Dunkin Allred, Mr. Austin Allred, Mr. Bubba Lindley, Mr. Jose Molina, and Mr. Reggie Maffett.
