Clarence "Asa" Jones

March 19, 1932 — April 17, 2021

Clarence “Asa” Jones, age 89, left this earth to be present with Jesus Saturday, April 17th. He was born March 19, 1932 in Dalton, GA.

Asa was preceded in death by his wife Bertice Cook Jones; parents Ray Jones, Sr. and Lucy Evans Jones; two brothers Ray, Jr. and Harold.

He will truly be missed by his surviving nieces, nephews, and many friends and neighbors.

Asa graduated from Georgia Tech in 1962 and had a long and interesting career as an engineer for The Boeing Company, Defense, Space, and Security Division, contracted to the National Aeronautics and Space Administration (NASA) working on space flights for much of his career.

Asa was a member of First Baptist Church Dalton. He had a strong Christian faith and worshiped at home for the many years he couldn't personally attend corporate worship. He was appreciative of the prayers and attention given to him by his church family.

Family and friends are invited to a graveside service to be held at 1pm on Tuesday April 20 th at New Hope Cemetery, Tunnel Hill-Varnell Road with Rev. Phillip Cannon officiating.

Asa was a generous and caring man giving to many ministries and charities with a special concern for St. Jude Children's Research Hospital.

Asa enjoyed God's creation in general and beautiful flowers in particular, but in place of flowers, please consider memorial gifts in his honor to one of the following: New Hope Baptist Church Cemetery Fund, 2105 Tunnel Hill-Varnell Rd.
