Corine Jourdain passed away on June 9, 2022 at the age of 89 at Walnut Creek Personal Care Home in Dalton, Georgia.
Corine was born on December 11, 1932 in Mankato, Minnesota, but moved to Miami, Florida as a young girl. As a teen in Miami, Corine was featured on the cover of Life Magazine, which led to her being selected as Miss Miami, the Orange Bowl Queen and Miss Florida. Corine then pursued a successful career as a model in Miami and New York.
While her outward beauty attracted many suiters, it was her inward beauty that led to her romance with and marriage to the love of her life, Lou, a dentist in Coral Gables. Corine and Lou had two sons, Jim and Bill, and Corine left the glamorous life of modeling to pursue her passion of being a loving wife and mother. Corine and Lou were married for 65 years at the time of Lou’s passing in 2019.
Corine was an avid tennis player. She and Lou played weekly doubles matches at Royal Palm Tennis Club in Miami where they were charter members. Corine and Lou made many close lifetime friendships through their love of tennis, and it remained a passion for many years.
Corine loved nothing more than playing in the dirt, and she cultivated a beautiful yard and garden in their Miami home. She was truly happiest when outside tending to her many tropical plants.
Corine and Lou spent many vacations in the North Carolina mountains and, when Lou retired, they moved to Burnsville, North Carolina to a mountain home that Lou designed himself. In Burnsville, where Lou and Corine lived for almost 30 years, Corine turned her attention to creating a beautiful mountainside retreat that showcased her love of gardening.
Corine and Lou moved to Dalton in 2019 to be closer to their son’s family. She resided at Royal Oaks and Walnut Creek where she loved the friends she made and the staff that so lovingly cared for her.
Corine is survived by her son, Bill (Lori) of Dalton, grandchildren Will Jourdain, Emily Jourdain, Tiffany Jourdain, James Jourdain (Angela), Ashley Jourdain, and two great grandchildren. She was predeceased by her husband, Lou and son, Jim (Kathleen).
Corine’s family would like to express their heartfelt thanks and love to the staff at Walnut Creek who provided Corine special and loving care in her final days. The family would also like to express their love and thanks to Angie Whitener who spent many hours caring for Corine, and for whom Corine had much affection and love.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests that donations be made to the charity of your choice. According to her wishes, there will be no service or memorial.
