Daisy Irene Dezell

Daisy Irene McNeese Dezell, of Dalton, Georgia, the beloved matriarch of the McNeese family, passed away on Sunday, March 23, 2025 at the age of 89, just 6 days short of her 90th birthday. 

She was born in Dalton on Thursday, March 28, 1935 to the late Mr. Emory and Mrs. Emma Painter McNeese. 

She was a graduate of Westside High School class of 1953 and was also a member of Dogwood Valley Baptist Church. 

In addition to her parents, she is preceded in death by her husband, Nelson Dezell, as well as her son, David Michael Hammond.  She is also preceded in death by her sisters, Evelyn Michael, Katherine Posy, Jewel Norman, Betty Black; her brothers, Floyd, Clay and Edward McNeese; and her special granddaughter, Catherine Hutcheson Caylor. 

She is survived by her sister, Mary Helen Davis; her daughter, Debra Stiles; her son, Staffon Weaver; and her special daughter, Chris Cable (Eric).  She is also survived by her three grandchildren, David Caylor, Shonda Campbell (Kevin), and Staffonie Swanson (Andrew); her six great-grandchildren, Austin Alexander (Corrie), Hannah Gray (Bryant), Kora Campbell, Henry Swanson, Elliott Swanson, and Luke Swanson; her one great-great-grandson, William Tucker Alexander; and her very special life-long friend, Brenda Gilbert.  She is also survived by many nieces and nephews, all of whom she loved very much. 

The family would like to thank Hamilton Hospice for their amazing support, as well as the caring staff of Ridgewood Manor, where she was affectionately known as Daisy.

Funeral services to celebrate the life of Daisy Irene McNeese Dezell will be conducted on Friday, March 28, 2025, at 3:00 P.M. in the Chapel of Love Funeral Home with Chaplain Pamela Johnson of Hamilton Hospice officiating.  She will be laid to rest following the service at West Hill Cemetery alongside her son, David.  Mr. Austin Alexander, Mr. David Caylor, Mr. Kevin Campbell, Mr. Kevin Pendergrass, Mr. John Davis, and Mr. Doug Davis will all serve as pallbearers for Daisy.

Friends are cordially invited to visit with the family at the Funeral Home on Friday from 1:00 P.M. until the service hour.
