Deforrest Parrott, Iii

Mr. V. DeForrest Parrott III, 87, of Dalton, passed away peacefully Saturday March 4, 2023, surrounded by his loving family. He was the son of the late V.D. Parrott Jr. and Evelyne Jones Parrott. He is survived by his wife of 65 years, Eugenia Kellett Parrott, of the residence; son, Jeff Parrott (Allison) of Dalton, and daughter, Suzanne Parrott Wilkinson (Kraig) of Charleston SC; grandchildren, Natalie B. Zuspan of Dalton, Jeffrey Todd Parrott, Jr of Chicago IL, and Joshua T Parrott (Charlotte) of Paducah, KY; brother, Charles Parrott (Marie) of Rancho Mirage, CA; and, nieces and nephews.

DeForrest was a product of the Dalton Public School system. He achieved the rank of Eagle Scout, Troop 60 DFUMC. He attended Georgia Tech and received a BS in Engineering from UTC. His faith, family, and friends were most important to him. He was a member of Dalton First United Methodist Church for 71 years. DeForrest was very involved with his children and grandchildren. He did everything from being a devoted band parent, to braving various overnight scout trips, to playing Mother Ginger in DTD’s The Nutcracker. He and his wife were renowned square dancers for over 30 years. He started his career with Dalton Utilities as an engineer and later retired as CEO and President of Dalton Utilities. Along with his father, he was instrumental in the design of the expansive utility infrastructure for the carpet industry, which continues to serve Dalton today. He liked to give back to the community through various channels including being a founding member of Leadership Dalton/Whitfield as well as serving in the Dalton Rotary Club for over 50 years.

The family wishes to thank Chris Barrett, Jewell Jackson, Frances Jackson, Fadia Alvitar, and the staff at Regency Park for their kind services and loving care.

The funeral and committal service will be Thursday, March 9, 2023, at 2:30 pm in the chapel of Love Funeral Home with Dr. Robin Lindsey officiating. Interment will be in West Hill Cemetery. The family will receive friends at Love Funeral Home, 1402 N. Thornton Ave, before the service from 12:00 noon until 2:30 pm.
