Dennis Gene Moore, of Dalton, GA, died suddenly January 10, 2024, with his wife at his side. He was preceded in death by his parents, Willie Moore and Doris Cureton Moore, and his brother Terry Moore. He is survived by his loving wife, Sarai Granillo Moore; daughter, Moria (Nathan) Romero of Bakersfield, CA; granddaughters, Jacqueline and Juliana Flores; sisters, Robin (Dwight) Trotter and Lee Ann (Steven) Riser; and nieces, nephews, great-nieces and nephews, and numerous family members.
Dennis was born in Fort Worth, TX, on May 18, 1954. He enlisted in the U.S. Air Force at age 18 and was honorably discharged as a Staff Sergeant after five years of service. Dennis worked many jobs, enjoyed learning new trades, and retired after nearly 20 years with Golden State Drilling as a heavy equipment diesel mechanic.
Above all, Dennis was a family man and a man of faith. Time with family brought him the greatest joy in his life. His many interests included fishing, visiting historic battle sites, collecting guns, learning military history, and in his retirement, he found a love for visiting estate sales and antiquing.
Dennis was a man of few words but shared his humor through the best one-liners. He generously gave of himself without hesitation. Dennis was loved by many and will be greatly missed.
A memorial service will be held at First Presbyterian Church, 101 S. Selvidge Street, on Tuesday, January 16, 2024, at 11:00 a.m. with Reverend Dr. Walter Jones officiating. A private burial will take place in Bakersfield, CA, at a later date. In lieu of flowers, the family requests contributions be made to any organization supporting veterans or active military.
The family would like to thank the emergency personnel of Whitfield County Station 1 and the nurses and doctors who gave care to Dennis and his family at Hamilton Medical Center.
