Mrs. Dimple Sue Brown Smith, age 89, of Resaca, Georgia, passed away peacefully at her residence on Thursday, November 14, 2024, surrounded by her loving family.
Dimple was born on Tuesday, October 22, 1935, in Old Fort, Tennessee, to the late Mr. Norris and Mrs. Hester Wilson Brown.
To know Dimple was to love her. She was regarded by all those who knew and loved her as a kind-hearted, gentle soul, who was always willing to help anyone that she could in any way that she could. She always put her family first, and was a wonderful wife, mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, sister, and aunt.
Dimple graduated Class of 1954 from Polk County High School in Polk County, Tennessee. She later moved to Dalton, and eventually to Resaca, where she lived for forty-seven years. She worked in clerical roles with Coronet Carpet in Dalton, until the birth of her daughter, when she left the workforce to stay at home and focus on her family. In her later years, she went on to work for several families as a caregiver and caretaker, where her generous and gentle spirit lent itself well to her helping take care of those in need. She was also a member at Cleveland Heights Baptist Church in Dalton.
In addition to her parents, Norris and Hester Brown, Dimple is preceded in death by her five brothers, Doyle Brown (who was killed in action in the Korean War at age 19), Marshall Brown, and James Brown, as well as her brother and sister-in-law, Edward and Bobbie Brown, and her brother and sister-in-law Ronald and Shirley Brown. She is also preceded in death by her step-son, JW Smith.
Dimple is survived by her loving husband, Mr. Vinson JW Smith, with whom she would have celebrated 60 years together on their next anniversary. She is also survived by her daughter, Suzanne (Addison) Wilson, and her step-sons, Denton Smith and Lamont (Angie) Smith; her sisters-in-law, Annie Ruth Brown (wife of her brother, James) and Josephine Brown (wife of her brother, Marshall); as well as several grandchildren, great-grandchildren, nieces, and nephews.
A funeral service to honor and celebrate the life of Mrs. Dimple Smith will be held on Monday, November 18, 2024, at 2:00 P.M. in the chapel of Love Funeral Home with the Reverend Phillip Cannon officiating. Dimple will be laid to rest following the service at Center Point Baptist Church Cemetery. Her family will receive friends for visitation beginning at 12:00 noon and up until the service hour.
In addition to flowers, Dimple’s family humbly requests that donations be made in her memory to the Alzheimer’s Association (click link below to donate).
