Don Clarey, 99, of Dalton passed away on Wednesday, February 28, 2024.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Edwin and Louise Clarey; sister, Beryl Rytlewski; brothers, Earl Clarey and Harlan Clarey; first wife and mother of his children, Wilma Severn Clarey; second wife, Joan Kingdom Clarey; granddaughter, Kim.
He is survived by his wife, Sharon Frederick Clarey; sons and daughters-in-law, John and Cheryl Clarey, David Clarey, Mark and Diane Clarey and Scot and Brenda Clarey; grandchildren, Cara Gunter (Michael), Ashley Lucynski, Lesleigh Manis (Nick), Andy Parkinson (Melinda), Kaitlyn Rouse (Josh); great-grandchildren, Avery, Luke, Madison, Rylan, Callan, Ava and Andrew. Also, Shannon Newman, Sheila Rahm, Steve Cochran, Adam Farmer, Paul Frederick and their families.
Born in Auburn, Michigan, Don graduated from Midland High School in 1943, served during WWII in the U.S. Army Air Force as a B-29 crewmember, then earned his Engineering degree from the University of Michigan. He married Wilma in 1946 and lived in Midland, Michigan until moving to Dalton in 1973. He was employed by Dow Chemical and retired in 1988. Wilma passed away in 2001 and on November 1, 2014, he married Sharon.
Funeral services will be held at 2:30 PM on Sunday in the chapel of Love Funeral Home. The family will receive friends prior to the service from 12:30 until 2:30. Don will be laid to rest in West Hill Cemetery.
