Donald Kelly Thompson

Donald Kelly Thompson (DT to his friends), 75, of Dalton, Georgia passed away suddenly December 8, 2022.

He was the son of the late Arthur R. Thompson and Neta B. Thompson.

He is survived by his wife of 35 years, Robin Vining Thompson; his son, Jason Vining Phillips and his wife Sara of Atlanta, Georgia, and his daughter, Kyle Phillips Hughes and her husband Darrell of Houston, Texas; grandchildren, Zeke Vining Phillips of Alpharetta, Georgia, Harrison Thompson Hughes of Houston, Texas, Zach Hughes of Austin, Texas, Hayden Hughes of Leander, Texas, and Hailey Hughes Munn and her husband Brandon and family of Cedar Park, Texas; sisters, Cathy Thompson Cheatham and her husband Bob of Canton, Georgia and Vicki Thompson Sellers of Memphis, Tennessee; brothers-in-law Milton Roberts and his wife Carolyn of Bowling Green, Kentucky, Charles Vining III of Dalton, Georgia and Lawrence Cole of Dalton, Georgia; and many loving nieces and nephews and extended family.

Don was a graduate of The University of Georgia, an avid golfer and was a member of Dalton Golf and Country Club for over five decades. His long-time golfing buddies, whom he cherished dearly, were part of his family. His professional career was in sales within the carpet industry. His relationships with his customers, suppliers, and coworkers were personal and admirable. Don never met a stranger, never met anyone he didn’t like, and was never seen without a huge smile on his face. He was a remarkable husband, loving father and father-in-law, and doting Papa Don to his grandchildren.

His family would like to thank friends for their support, especially Mac Carson, during this difficult time.

As per Don’s request no funeral service will be held.
