Doris Smith

April 18, 1929 — September 28, 2018

Our angel, Doris Smith, 89, of Dalton, was welcomed into her heavenly home on Friday, September 28, 2018.  She was a faithful, longtime member of Rocky Face Baptist Church but had recently been attending Olivia Baptist Church with her daughter.  Her life was her faith, her family, her friends, and always thinking of others.  After many years of dedicated service, she was a retiree of West Point-Pepperell/Shaw Industries.  She loved singing, playing her organ, and arranging bouquets with the prettiest of bows.  She was a true southern lady who loved to cook and extend hospitality to those around her.

She was preceded in death by her parents, Hillard and Maude (Cook) Roberson; her loving husband, A.N. (Smitty) Smith; and her siblings, JC (Jake) Roberson, Roma Lee Pilcher and Joe Roberson.

Doris is survived by her daughter and son-in-law, Shelley (Smith) and Trammell Suddeth; her grandchildren, Jason and Jenny Suddeth, Julie (Suddeth) and Robb Kittle, and Carla (Suddeth) and Frank Wilson. She was blessed with her great-grandchildren: Kailee Kittle, Austin Hackney, Timothy Kittle, Kason Kittle, Samson Suddeth, Tiffany (Souther) and Carlos Colon, Blake and Magan Souther, Scott and Macayla Souther, and Katlin Wilson. She is also survived by her brother and sister-in-law, Cecil (Pete) and Brenda Roberson, her sister and brother-in-law, Linda (Roberson) and Jerry Pickens, brother-in-law and sister-in-law, James and Audra Smith, and sisters-in-law, Fay Roberson and Pat Smith. She was loved by many nieces, nephews, great-great grandchildren and special friends.

Special thanks to the staff at Morningside of Dalton, Amedisys Home Health and Amedisys Hospice for their care and support over the past few months.
