Edwina Grogan Wallace, 91, of Dalton passed away on Friday, March 12, surrounded by her loving family at Hamilton Medical Center. She was preceded in death by her husband, Sherman H. Wallace; parents, Herman and Monnie Grogan; sisters, Loretta Stowers, Geneva Gilleland; and brothers, Wayne Grogan, Kenneth Grogan, and Hubert Grogan.
Edwina was an active and faithful member of First Baptist Church of Dalton for more than 60 years. With infectious laughter, Edwina brought joy and happiness to all those around her. She was a beam of sunlight sharing grace, love, kindness, and compassion to anyone she met. She shared unending and unconditional love for all of her family as a beloved wife, mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother. She will be deeply missed by her family and friends.
Edwina is survived by her children: Connie (Mike) Murphy of Gainesville, GA, Andrew (Charmagne) Wallace of Chatsworth, Gary Wallace (Robert Michel) of Atlanta, and Steven Wallace (Charlie Gentry) of Gainesville, FL; grandchildren, Patrick (Paula) Murphy and Kelly (William) Fitzpatrick; great-grandchildren, Emily Fitzpatrick, Lauren Fitzpatrick, and Colin Murphy; and brother, Bronson Grogan. Nieces and nephews also survive.
A private graveside service for Edwina will be held at Whitfield Memorial Gardens with Reverend Phillip Cannon and Reverend Larry Flanagan officiating. A celebration of Edwina’s life will be held at a later date. In lieu of flowers, the family requests that any donations be made to the Dalton State College Foundation—Royal Oaks Scholarship Fund (checks please be made payable to Dalton State College with Royal Oaks Scholarship Fund in the memo line) and mailed to Royal Oaks, 1220 Broadrick Drive, Dalton, GA 30720.
