Emma Lee (Emily) Smith

Emma Lee (Emily) Smith, 96, of Dalton passed away on Wednesday, May 18, 2022, at Wood Dale Health Care in Dalton. She was born on September 16, 1925, and was preceded in death by her husband of 75 years, C. H. (Ace) Smith; her parents, Starling and Harriet Porter; sister, Illa Belle Martin; and nieces and nephews.

Emily is survived by her children, Clydine and Travis Tyson and Dennis and Marie Smith, both of Dalton, grandchildren, Stacey and Stan Street, Lisa and Joey Jones, James T. II and Meredith Tyson, Chris and Mindy Smith, Chad and Britney Smith; great-grandchildren, Tyson Street, Anna and Daniel Roberts, Emily Jones, Sara Grace Jones, Rhett Tyson, Whitney Tyson, Hunter Smith, Sydney Smith, and Gracie Smith. Nieces and nephews also survive.

Emily was a member of Salem Baptist Church. She loved her family deeply and was loved by all of them. She also loved fishing, gardening, and mowing her own grass.

A funeral service for Mrs. Smith will be held on Friday, May 20, 2022, at 11:00 a.m. at Love Funeral Home. The family will receive friends from 10:00-11:00 a.m. at the funeral home with Reverend Jim Brinkley officiating. Burial will follow at United Memorial Gardens.
