James A. Waskin, 82, of Dalton, Georgia passed away peacefully surrounded by his family on March 30, 2024.
James, fondly known as Jim, was born to Mildred and Stanley Waskin, on March 7, 1942, in Chicago, Illinois. As a child, he loved to fish with his father at their lake house in Michigan. He was a talented athlete and played football at The University of Kansas for one year before suffering a career-ending injury. He later attended and graduated from DePaul University with a bachelor’s degree in marketing.
James had many titles in his lifetime. He was a hard-working 57-year veteran of the flooring industry, a “Big Kahuna,” and life of the party. Most importantly he loved being a husband, father, and grandfather (aka Papa J).
James is survived by his wife, Constance, and two adult children, Kevin and Kristin Waskin. He is also survived by his son-in-law, Brett Lubash, daughter-in-law, Elaine Dyjak, and his grandchildren, James Waskin and Kate Lubash.
There will be a Service and Celebration of Life held in Dalton, GA with the date to be announced later.
