Gary "Lane" Ashworth

Gary “Lane” Ashworth, 64, of Dalton passed away peacefully on Sunday, February 24, 2019 at Erlanger Medical Center surrounded by family and friends.

Lane was born January 8, 1955 in Dalton, GA, son of the late DeeEtte Calhoun Ashworth and Wendell Lee Ashworth; grandson of the late Thomas

Hughes and Minnie Mallet Calhoun, Joseph Bartow and Myrtle Barksdale Ashworth.  He was a member of St. Mark’s Episcopal Church.  Lane graduated from the University of Tennessee Knoxville in Marketing and Finance where he met his wife Debbie.

Lane is survived by his loving wife of 35 years, Debbie Ashworth; sister and brother in law, Wendy and Doug Peters of Dalton; nephews and niece, Thomas Brandon Peters (Nicki), Spencer Ashworth Peters (Taylor Wood) and Ashleigh Lane Peters; great nephews, Hudson Cole Peters and Caden Graham Peters; cousin, Carson Ashworth (Elizabeth).

After graduation Lane moved back to Dalton and started his career in Banking, working for many banks in the area.  He finished his career at Bolling B. Thompson Financial Services.  He was very active in the community and served as Public Safety Commissioner for the city of Dalton.  He loved life, laughter, family and friends; as well as golf and Tennessee Football and Basketball.

Services will be held Thursday at 3 PM at St. Mark’s Episcopal Church with Priest Susan Butler officiating.  Pallbearers will be Scott Andersen, Morris Brackett, Gregg Causby, Claude Craig, Drennon Crutchfield Jr., and Steve King.

The Family will receive friends Thursday in the Fellowship Hall of St. Mark’s from 1:00 until 2:30.
