He is survived by his son and daughter-in-law, John and Ann Bryant; daughter-in-law, Sacy Bryant; grandchildren, Hailey Bosma (Isaiah), Kathryn Rachor (Colby), Nathan Bryant, Cooper Bryant (Hannah), and Will Bryant; and great-grandchildren, Peyton and Wright Bosma.
Mr. Bryant was born in Columbia, South Carolina, on April 16, 1930. He graduated from Brooklyn Cayce High School in Columbia in 1948. He graduated from the University of South Carolina in 1952. He then served in the United States Marines during the Korean War. After the war, and being honorably discharged from the Marine Corps, he attended the University of Georgia School of Veterinary Medicine receiving his D.V.M. in 1957. He practiced veterinary medicine for a few years and then joined Mayo Chemical in Chattanooga and ran that plant’s operations for several decades. Mr. Bryant loved his grandchildren with a grandfather’s love! He also loved the game of golf. As a member of the Mason’s, he enjoyed fellowship and working alongside members of that group.
The family would like to express their appreciation to the staff of The Gardens and all Mr. Bryant’s caretakers for the compassion and care that they gave to him. They also appreciate the staff and many of his friends at The Common Ground Coffee Shop at ChristChurch Presbyterian for the many hours of enjoyment that he had at that location.
The family asks that flowers be omitted, and memorials be made to either St. Mark’s Episcopal Church (901 West Emery Street, Dalton, GA 30720) or the University of Georgia School of Veterinary Medicine.
A memorial service for Hailey Randall Bryant will be held at St. Mark’s Episcopal Church on Wednesday, December 20, 2023 at 12:00 noon. The family will receive friends at a reception beginning at 12:45 p.m. (following the memorial service) in the Parish Hall.
