Herschel Osborn, 97, passed away on Sunday, June 14, 2020. He was born October 14, 1922 to the late Norman and Sybil Osborn. He was also preceded in death by his sisters, Ava Nell Brock and Elizabeth Osborn; brothers, Voyd, Glenn, Bob, John, and H.J. Osborn.
He was a proud veteran of WW2. Herschel served in the U.S. Army with the 630 th tank destroyer battalion. He received a purple heart and other military awards. He was employed by Lee Printing until his retirement. He was a member of Dalton First United Methodist Church.
He is survived by his wife of 70 years, Billie Ann Wilson Osborn; daughter and son in law, Carol and Frank Percy Jr, son and daughter in law, Clay and Janie Osborn, all of Dalton. Grandchildren, Frank and Sarah Percy III, Nicki and Bryan Rayburn, Ansley and Brian Harrison all of Dalton. Chip and Courtney Percy of San Antonio, Wendy and Jeremy Henderson of Chattanooga, Brooke and David Scharfstein of Alpharetta. Great grandchildren: Jackson, Brett, Lily Kaye, Charlie, Caroline, Cohen and Annie Bea Percy, Weston and Addison Rayburn, Kate, Kami and Keeli Harrison, Payton, Bella and Darcy Scharfstein. Sisters in law, Sadie Hale and Nancy Edmond, and nieces and nephews.
The funeral service will be held Wednesday, June 17 at 11:00 a.m. in the chapel of Love Funeral Home with Rev. Dr. Brian Clark and Rev. Tommy Willingham officiating. Burial will follow in West Hill Cemetery with Military Honors. The visitation will be held Tuesday, June 16 from 6 p.m. to 8 p.m. at Love Funeral Home. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Dalton First United Methodist Church.
