Hassell Herrin, age 80, passed away at Dalton Place on March 29, 2019.
He was the son of the late Horton Burnett and Margaret Sprayberry Herrin of Dalton. He is survived by a sister, Margaret Herrin, and as he called her “his honorary sister”, Ann Clarke.
He was a graduate of Dalton High School, and the University of Tennessee where he was a member of the Kappa Alpha fraternity. Until recently, he never missed a home UT football game and loved all things VOLS.
He served in the U.S. Air Force, leaving service as Captain. He was stationed in several locations in the United States and with American Forces Korean Network (AFKN) in Seoul, Korea.
He lived in Nashville for quite a few years, then returned to Dalton and worked with and retired from the Department of Family and Children Services.
He was a long-time member of Dalton First United Methodist Church and loved his work with the Men’s group and serving as an usher.
A recent pleasure for him was as a volunteer with DOC-UP and serving on the board there.
A special thank you to the wonderful caregivers at Dalton Place.
