Irene Ragan

Mrs. Dimple Irene Ragan, 99, of Dalton, passed away on Friday, January 28, 2022, at Wood Dale Health Care Center. She was born on January 1, 1923, in Sonoraville, GA. She is preceded in death by her husband of 71 years, Steed M. “Blackie” Ragan (who called her “Baby”); infant twin daughters; daughter, Sandra Ragan Erwin; son, Tony J. Ragan; grandchildren, Marty Erwin and Sky Ragan; parents, Odel and Lucille Hardy; brothers, W. H. Hardy, Bill Hardy, Pat Nelson Hardy, John Adam Hardy; and sister, Sara Hardy Avery.

Mrs. Ragan is survived by her sons and daughters-in-law, Tommy and Marlene Ragan of Dalton and Michael and Mary Ragan of Summerville, SC; special granddaughter, Karen Gibson (Tony); 9 grandchildren; 16 great-grandchildren; 20 great-great grandchildren;1 great-great-great grandchildren; and sisters, Linda Hardy Freeman and Doris Hardy Watters. Nieces, nephews, and cousins also survive.

Mrs. Ragan retired from Wells Fargo Bank. Winning numerous awards for her expertise in quilting, Irene was known throughout our community as the “Quilt Lady.” Her quilts have been sold and seen around the world. She was a member of the Busy Bee Homemakers Club. She also made many, many potholders. She loved working in her yard showing her skill often in gardening and in her flowers. She attended Center Point Baptist Church.

Funeral services for Mrs. Ragan will be held on Sunday, January 30, 2022, in the Chapel of Love Funeral Home at 2:30 p.m. with Reverend George Ross and Reverend Matt Futch officiating. Burial will follow at West Hill Cemetery. The family will receive friends for visitation on Saturday, January 29, 2022, at Love Funeral Home from 2:00-4:00 p.m. The family requests that all visitors wear masks for visitation and service.

Flowers will be accepted.
