Irene Woods Wimpey

Mrs. Irene Woods Wimpey, 88, of Dalton passed away Thursday, May 10, 2018 at Erlanger Medical Center in Chattanooga, TN.

She was the daughter of the late Lester and Rachel Teasley Woods and was preceded in death by her husband, Arnold Wimpey; sons, Michael Wimpey and Johnny Wimpey; daughter, Virginia McRae.

Irene was a Christian lady who loved the Lord. She was a member of Antioch Baptist Church. She was a loving wife, mother, sister, grandmother, great-grandmother, great-great-grandmother, and friend.

She is survived by her children and their spouses, Mary and Bobby Jones, Kathy and Grady Griggs, Sandy and Bill Cookson, and Jacky and Anita Wimpey; sister, Peggy Clark; 12 grandchildren, 16 great-grandchildren, 8 great-great-grandchildren; nieces and nephews; very special friend, David Williams.

Funeral services will be at 3 p.m. Saturday in the Chapel of Love Funeral Home with the Rev. Donald Cantrell officiating.

Burial will follow in West Hill Cemetery.

The family will receive friends at Love Funeral Home on Friday from 5 to 8 p.m. and on Saturday from 11 a.m. until 3 p.m.
