Jack Rowland

Orville Jack Rowland, 94, passed away on Sunday, October 4, 2020.

He was the son of the late William and Lucille Rowland and was also preceded in death by his wife of 60 years, Elizabeth Rowland, brothers, Herschel and Junior Rowland and niece and nephew, Sharon Waddell and David Barrett.

Jack served as office manager of Bowen Brothers until the business was sold in 1986. But his legacy will be remembered as a mentor and counselor as the Scout Master of Troop 62 at Trinity United Methodist Church. Jack touched the lives of hundreds of young boys through the scouting program as they grew to be successful young men in our community. He also served as senior usher for the church for many years while his wife, Elizabeth, served as organist.

He is survived by his sisters, Mary Kathleen Hixon, Betty Sue Routt and Patricia Ann Oakley (Bob); half brothers, Bill Rowland and Ronald Rowland; nieces and nephews.

The family would like to thank nurse Ashley Gorrell and Tapestry Hospice for their love and care as well as Helen Thurman, Jebria Hardy and Charlotte Quinn.

A graveside service will be held at 3:30 PM on Thursday at Whitfield Memorial Gardens in the Pavilion. Visitation will be held from 12 until 3 PM on Thursday at Love Funeral Home.
