Jacqueline Videtto Hurst, 71, slipped peacefully from this earth to be with Jesus in the early morning hours of February 13, 2021, following a brave battle with Glioblastoma.
Jackie was born July 25, 1949, in Erie, Pennsylvania, to John Elmer Videtto and Helen May Waterhouse Videtto. She moved with her parents and five siblings to Louisville, Kentucky, in 1952. Jackie attended Southern High School where she was a class officer and Homecoming Queen. She attended Eastern Kentucky University and went on to work as a Flight Attendant for Eastern Airlines based in Atlanta which began her love of travel. While in Atlanta, she met her husband, Michael, on a blind date, and they were married in 1974.
Jackie had an enthusiastic love of life and had her priorities in order… her faith, her family, and her friends. She loved traveling, interior design, art, entertaining, and most of all, supporting all her grandchildren in all their sports and activities. Of all her many titles, ‘Grammie’ was the one she loved most!
Michael and Jackie owned Wallbuilders, a concrete construction company, in Dalton until Michael retired in 2012. Jackie took an active role in the office end of the business from the beginning. Additionally, she was an antiques store co-owner in Dalton and Chattanooga for a number of years. More recently, she loved helping her friend and former business partner, Jean Dantzler, in her floral design business.
Jackie and Michael were active members of Fellowship Bible Church in Dalton for forty years. They especially enjoyed the life-long friendships they shared with “Pizza Group.” All who knew Jackie valued her gracious hospitality, warmth, kindness and fun-loving spirit. Always ready to go!
Jackie was predeceased by her husband, William Michael Hurst, in 2019, and her parents, John and Helen Videtto. Surviving to cherish her memory are three children, William Branen Hurst and wife, Katherine, of Signal Mountain, Tennessee, John Spencer Hurst of Dalton, and Lauren Hurst O’Ferrall and husband, Patrick, of Dalton; nine grandchildren, Payne, Jack and Wren Hurst of Signal Mountain, TN, Cannon Hurst of Albany, Georgia, and Katelyn, Abby, Brinley, Asher and Preston O’Ferrall of Dalton.
Additionally, she is survived by three sisters, Judy Dampier (Louie), Terry Pendleton (Don), and Vicki Wilson (Gary), two brothers, William Videtto (Jennifer), and David Videtto (Valerie), a sister-in-law, Peggy Johnson (Joe), and a host of nieces and nephews and friends.
A graveside service will be held on Tuesday, February 16, at 2:00 PM, with interment in Whitfield Memorial Gardens. Love Funeral Home, 1402 N. Thornton Avenue, Dalton, Georgia 30720, is in charge of the arrangements. In lieu of flowers, donations in memory of Jackie may be made to the Women's Enrichment Center, 109 West Gordon Street, Dalton, Georgia 30720.
