James McCarver Hanson, 85, of Dalton passed away on Tuesday, May 12, 2020.
He was born on February 8, 1935 to the late Paul McCarver Hanson and Wilburn (Billie) Ann Hanson. He was also preceded in death by his sister, Linda Lane Hanson.
James graduated from Dalton High School in 1953 and later from the University of Georgia School of Pharmacy. He loved his Georgia Bulldogs. After retiring from CVS pharmacy in 2000, he worked at Dart Drugs for several years. While at Dart he celebrated 50 years as a pharmacist. He was a previous member of the Kiwanis Club of Dalton for many years and loved working at the annual pancake day. He was also a member of the Dalton-Whitfield Pharmaceutical Association. As a member of the First Baptist Church of Dalton, he loved his men’s Sunday school class and being a greeter at the church doors on Sunday morning.
James is survived by his wife of 62 years, Starr Richards Hanson; son, James McCarver Hanson, Jr.; daughters, Amy Hanson Davison (Welton) and Marsha Hanson Crider (Tony); grandchildren, Blake Welton Davison, Tyler Hayes Davison, Matthew James Davison, Morgan Leigh Crider and Chase Crider; sister, Ann Tate (Sam); nieces and nephews.
A private family graveside will be held on Thursday at West Hill Cemetery with Rev. Phillip Cannon officiating.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the First Foundation at the First Baptist Church, P.O. Box 827 Dalton, GA 30722.
