James “Jim” Lafayette Clark, Jr. of Dalton entered into Heaven on December 18, 2023 surrounded by his close family. A true Daltonian, Jim was born on February 21, 1961 in Dalton to the late Betty Ann and Jimmy Clark.
Jim is survived by his loving daughters, Lauren (Trey) Miller of Nashville and Molly (Joe) Young of Dalton; his sister Beth (Jon) Rackley; nephew Colby (Chelsea) Henton; niece Meral Henton, and a host of extended family members and close friends. “Granddad Jim” is also survived by his greatest joy, four grandchildren: Shaw, Callaway, Ward, and Worth. His playful and joyous spirit made him the most active, engaged, and wonderful grandfather.
A graduate of Dalton High School in 1979, Jim continued his education at the University of Georgia where he graduated in 1984. He remained a lifelong Bulldogs fan and he loved cheering them on every Saturday in the fall. He is best described as “old school” and his family and friends will remember him listening to classic rock, fishing, and telling stories about the good old days.
The family would like to express their deepest gratitude to Hamilton Medical Center for Jim’s wonderful care, especially Dr. Selwin Abraham of the Cardiology Department and Adam Ridley, Physician Assistant, for the extraordinary care they provided.
A memorial service for Jim Clark will be held at First Baptist Church of Dalton on Thursday, December 21 at 11:00 AM with a visitation prior from 9:30 AM to 11 AM.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests that contributions in Jim’s memory be made to The First Foundation at First Baptist Church of Dalton.
